He has been recognised with an Honorary Doctorate of Letters for services to the Victoria University Foundation, and made a Life Member of the Western Bulldogs Football Club for rebuilding of the Whitten Oval.

Prime Ministers’
Sporting OrationCampbell founded the Prime Ministers’ Sporting Oration to raise funds to develop grassroots sport, in particular focusing on the imbalance between male and female sporting infrastructure, limiting participation. The inaugural oration was delivered by The Hon. Julia Gillard, 27th Prime Minister of Australia.
IMPACTWON
Campbell leads and supports the Founders of ImpactWon, a tech start up, driven by an Agentic AI sales enablement platform. Campbell chairs the Advisory Board and is spearheading the to-market approach for this innovative and advanced sales methodology that will equip the end user with unprecedented, in depth & real time sales knowledge and expertise.
CHARLIE TEO FOUNDATION
Campbell is acting as Interim Chief Executive of the Charlie Teo Foundation. Experienced in philanthropy, fundraising and the non-for-profit sector, Campbell is supporting the Board, focusing on funding medical research to find a cure for Brain Cancer.
Puffing Billy – Lakeside Visitor Centre
Campbell led the development of the award-winning Puffing Billy Railway Visitor Centre designed by Terroir as Chairman of the Project Control Group (PCG). This facility has been recognised by the International Architectural Awards 2022 in Chicago.
Campbell was also Deputy-Chair of the Board, Chair of the Railway Operations & Risk Committee and a member of the Audit, Risk & Finance Committee.Victoria’s Retired Tram Strategy
Campbell led the development of Victoria’s Retired Trams Strategy with the tram Heritage and Museum sectors to repurpose some 300 of Melbourne’s iconic W-Class fleet, which were no longer fit for purpose. This project required delicate stakeholder management of groups with conflicting and competing interests, in order to arrive at an agreed way forward that could be adopted and delivered as government policy.

Preserving Victoria’s Rail History
Campbell chaired a consultative committee made up of the diverse interests representing Victoria’s Heritage Rail sector. This committee developed a benchmark document Preserving our rail history – a blueprint for the future which was adopted and launched by the Victorian government as a strategic way forward to recognise and preserve the glorious history of rail’s contribution to Victoria’s growth and economy, from the age of steam to modern day diesel and electric operating systems.

INTERNATIONAL BID 2020 ILCA COMBINED WORLD SAILING CHAMPIONSHIPS
As Bid Chairman, Campbell successfully led the Australian and Victorian Laser Sailing Associations candidature to host the 2020 ILCA Combined World Championships. Campbell brought together the Cities of Melbourne and Geelong, along with the state government and Yachting Australia to deliver the largest Laser World Championships ever held on Port Phillip Bay.
SYDNEY INVICTUS GAMES 2018
Campbell was Deputy Chair for the Sydney Invictus Games. He chaired the Games Operation Committee and was a member of the Audit & Risk Committee. Campbell was instrumental in the promotion and attraction of corporate, commercial and financial support underpinning the financial viability and successful delivery of the Games. This brought profile brands such as Jaguar, Range Rover, Medibank, ABC, Deloitte, Boeing and more.
Leadership at VicTrack
Campbell served as Chief Executive of VicTrack (2012–2023), Victoria’s rail and tram infrastructure agency. There, he led the organisation back to profitability, expanded its revenue base, and introduced major commercial initiatives that positioned VicTrack as a key player in the state’s infrastructure agenda.
SUSAN ALBERTI COMMUNITY CHILD CARE CENTRE
Having identified a significant and growing need for childcare and maternal health services in Footscray (embed link to document beneath the bold words – see email). Campbell drove the initiative to establish a non-for-profit community childcare & related service facility, opposite the Cedarwoods Banbury Village development. Campbell chaired the Project Control Group (PCG) for the construction of this independent facility, its commissioning and outsourcing of its management and operations to ECMS. The facility is now known as the Bulldogs Community Children’s Centre | ECMS.

Western Bulldogs Transformation
Campbell is well known for his leadership in transforming the Western Bulldogs Football Club as Chief Executive (2002-2010). Campbell led a complete strategic and cultural rebuild.
Campbell restored financial stability, restructured debt, and drove community and corporate engagement. A centrepiece of this transformation was the redevelopment of Whitten Oval, which re-established the club’s spiritual home and created a lasting asset for players, staff, members, and the local community. This turnaround laid the foundation for the club’s 2016 AFL Premiership – their first in 62 years.
Goodwill Games
Working for Turner Broadcasting Corporation & AOL Time Warner (USA), Campbell led the 2001 Goodwill Games, Brisbane as Chief Executive, delivering the most successful games in this event’s history.
Campbell competed in the inaugural 1986 Moscow Goodwill Games in sailing. Some 20 years on, the Goodwill Games delivered a legacy and platform for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.Melbourne Recital Centre
Campbell was an inaugural Director and Deputy-Chair of the Melbourne Recital Centre where he chaired the Project Control Group building one of Melbourne’s landmark buildings, globally recognised for its’ aesthetic and fine acoustic qualities designed by ARM Architecture. Campbell was also a member of the Endowment Fund Committee and the Audit & Risk Committee.
Melbourne Melanoma Project
Melanoma Research Victoria (MRV) is an award-winning collaborative research program that engages with all stakeholders, including patients; carers; researchers; clinicians; government; and industry, to improve outcomes for melanoma patients.
Campbell sat on the Melbourne Melanoma Project Governance Committee and was responsible for establishing the Consumer Reference Group, and was subsequently the Founding Chairman of the Australian Melanoma Consumer Alliance. Both these bodies have had significant influence in raising the importance of patient input into melanoma research initiatives, clinical trials and patient care.
Melbourne Major Events Company
Campbell was the Chief Executive of the Melbourne Major Events Company (MMEC), which was responsible for many international concerts, festivals and international sporting championships and events being brought to Melbourne and Victoria for the first time. The success of the MMEC was an integral part of repositioning Melbourne as a liveable city, internationally recognised as a major sporting and events capital.
Campbell was credited for bringing multiple marquee events which included the highly successful 2006 Commonwealth Games, the President’s Cup 1998, the inaugural
MCG Bledisloe Cup in 1997.
AUSTRALIAN SAILING & OLYMPIC LEADERSHIP
Campbell is a long-standing contributor to the Australian Sailing and Olympic movements. He has held roles with Yachting Victoria, Yachting Australia, World Yachting and the International Laser Class Association.
Campbell chaired the successful bid for Melbourne to host the combined Laser World Championships 2021.
Campbell holds a Diploma from the IOC International Olympic Academy (Greece).
Australian Olympian Seoul 1988 & America’s Cup Defence 1987
His career began in elite sport. Campbell represented Australia in sailing at the 1988 Seoul Olympics (Yachting), competed in the 1986 Goodwill Games in Russia, and was a crew member in the America’s Cup Defence Series 1987, aboard Steak N’ Kidney in Perth.
Campbell has sailed various International classes including International Finn, Flying Dutchman, Laser Class and competed in several major ocean racing events including Sydney to Hobart yacht race.
